:art: Insert Images

The 2D canvas in Compose and Edit is now somewhere you compose, not just somewhere you sketch.

  • Drop an image straight onto the canvas — a new caret on the upload-image toolbar button inserts an image into the canvas itself, where it can be moved, scaled and rotated like any other sketch object
  • Your marks belong to the render — sketches and inserted images now save to the cloud with the render they were made on, and come back exactly as you left them when you re-open that render from the gallery
  • Selection is the default tool — left-drag draws a marquee, with Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V and Delete all supported. No more detouring through a drawing tool first just to pick something up
  • Brush controls where you’d look for them — color and line thickness moved into the sketch tool’s own caret menu

NOTE: Reference photos, entourage, logos, a marked-up detail — anything you can upload can now live on the canvas and be composed against, and it all travels with the render

:snowflake: 3D Viewer Display Styles

A new style menu in the 3D viewer toolbar changes how your model reads — and what Veras renders from.

  • Shaded — the classic textured look
  • Arctic Clay — matte white clay with ambient occlusion, for form and massing without material noise
  • Textured Clay — your own textures under the same clean white lighting
  • The viewer’s default lighting is brighter all round — higher sun elevation and intensity, plus a new hemisphere light, so models no longer come up dim
  • Your chosen style carries into the image Veras renders from, so the render matches what you were looking at
  • The choice sticks between sessions

NOTE: The style you pick isn’t just a preview setting — it’s the image the render starts from, so Arctic Clay is a real way to steer Veras away from your model’s materials

:clapper: Video: Pick Which Frame “Show Original” Reveals

  • Videos rendered with both a first and last frame get a caret on the Show Original button to switch between the two
  • Selecting one of those videos brings its last frame back into the property pane, ready to keep working from

:control_knobs: A Rebuilt Property Pane

The pane was reordered around how you actually work: pick a model, write a prompt, choose a source.

  • Image Model comes first — the image engine selector moved from the bottom of the pane to directly under Presets and is now called Image Model, the same slot Video Model already occupied. The model picker is now the first control in every mode
  • Style chips sit with their prompt — chips are directly above the prompt they modify, instead of stranded at the top of the pane
  • Twice-as-tall model dropdowns — both Image Model and Video Model show most of the list without scrolling
  • One spacing rhythm — every section in the pane is now on the same consistent vertical spacing
  • “Source Image” is now just Source — it covers the 3D viewer and video frames too, not only images
  • The 3D Viewer source is live — choosing 3D Viewer mirrors the viewer as you orbit, instead of showing a static snapshot taken after the camera came to rest

More Improvements

  • One modal, everywhere — every overlay modal in the app now shares a single implementation, so backdrop, spacing and behavior are consistent throughout
  • Steady loading messages — the full-window loading messages all sit in the same place, so the message no longer jumps up the screen during startup
  • Quieter workspace — adding or removing an item from the workspace no longer raises a toast over the mode tabs. The tile itself already shows the change
  • Consistent save names — auto-saved renders now use the same filename as every other save path: the name of the matching preset, or “Custom” when the settings don’t match one

Fixes

  • Uploads & Source Images
    • 4K PNG uploads no longer fail with “Failed to fetch” — large PNGs are re-encoded on the way in so the request stays under the upload limit
    • Manual Upload now renders what is actually shown on the canvas, respecting your crop and framing, instead of quietly using the full uncropped image
    • The video Auto source preview no longer crops the bottom of the image the first time it loads in a session
    • Drop zones no longer flicker from teal back to gray as the cursor passes over their own text and icons, and the empty “no rendering selected” state now grows to the proper drop-target size while dragging
    • The “high resolution image may be downscaled” warning badge is back on large thumbnails — it had been suppressed on any render that also carried a resolution badge
  • Interface
    • The name and prompt fields in the style chip edit panel no longer grow without limit
    • Restored the 8px gap between the Source dropdown and its preview in Compose and Edit
    • The Veras logo in the SketchUp nav bar renders at full size again instead of a few pixels wide
  • Shortcuts
    • Ctrl+Enter from the gallery no longer starts a silent, billed render from settings you can’t see — it now runs the active tab’s main action, or nothing where there isn’t one
