Improvements :roller_coaster:

The login system has now migrated from the legacy EvolveLAB login to the new Chaos login!

I tested out the Chaos login method this morning and wanted to report a couple things I came across.

For some background:

  • I had removed my email address from the old Evolve Customer portal as both an admin and user.
  • In my chaos admin portal I have myself added as a user and have floating licenses enabled.
  • I installed the latest version of Glyph 4.1.1

When launching glyph, I login with the Chaos license using the SSO option but then receive an error message below. However, when launching glyph again the app starts up and I can use it just fine. One additional thing I noticed after launching Glyph was that the Chaos license tracker was not tracking any instance of the license being used and still zero licenses in use.

Not sure what is triggering this error message. Are their any insights on what might be the cause?

Glyph Choas Login

@Elliottk Thanks for the feedback, and our apologies for the login/licensing issues you encountered. We are currently working on cleaning up some of the issues that arose due to this EvolveLAB to Chaos migration.

For the login issue, there have been some intermittent issues. We believe most of them are fixed by now, but please do let us know if you continue to experience them and we’ll continue to look into it. As to the exact cause, I am not sure, but it could have been a few different issues that we’ve now mostly resolved.

As for the licenses, both your EvolveLAB licenses, and the emails assigned to it, should have been migrated to your Chaos account. If you didn’t have a Chaos account tied to your EvolveLAB account email, one should have been automatically created for you, which you should be able to log into using your old EvolveLAB password (for a time). So if you’ve already reassigned yourself, that’s fine, but I’m told that should have been done in the background this past weekend as well.

Here’s a link to the migration FAQ (which I believe you’ve already commented on!): Chaos Portal Transition – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - #4 by Elliottk

Please feel free to let us know if you experience any further issues!

Thanks,

Thanks for the response. I had a few minutes this morning and was able to test out a scenario where I logged into Glyph on two different users at the same using our Chaos SSO accounts.

The second user was one that never had access to Glyph on the old Evolve Lab admin portal. The same thing happened and the error message appeared after logging in but I was still able to launch Glyph and use it just by clicking the icon once more.

It also appears that the active instance of glyph are not being registered by the Chaos license manager and I was able to login and use glyph simultaneously on both user accounts even though we only currently have one floating seat.

@Elliottk Thanks for the further info!

For the ‘In Use’, currently Glyph (and the other former EvolveLAB apps) do not display as ‘In Use’ in the Chaos Portal. We are working on remove that column from the my.chaos.com website to avoid confusion, as a few people have already noticed this discrepancy.

As for the two users on one license, did one of them perhaps open as a trial (noted in the top-left title bar of the Glyph window)? The trial UI looks very similar to the regular UI, so it’s possible that this is the case.

If not, we do not of some residual access issues, and in those cases we air on the side of granting a license as opposed to denying it or showing an error. I expect these edge cases to be cleaned up over the next few weeks, but in general we are trying to prevent a paid user from not being able to access the software anytime these bugs arise.

Thanks again for the continued feedback, it really is super helpful for us!

Thanks for the clarifications on the ‘In Use’ column and the simultaneous access. It appears that both users are accessing the full version and not the trial version, I included the image below for reference. Your explanation clears that up.

Looking forward to all the improvements to come.
