@Thestreetarckitect Thanks for sharing this issue!

Can you please let us know what software you are trying to launch Veras from (Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, etc?)

Veras doesn’t have a standalone desktop version. We do have a web version you can access from any web browser by going to https://veras.evolvelab.io/

Thanks,

@Thestreetarckitect Assuming this is related to your other post, I’m going to merge this topic into that one!

Good night Daniel. I’m having the same issue. So thanks for your response. But I’m confused. If there’s no standalone desktop version of Veras, why is there a download online to install Veras? What is being done when we install that download? Also, if there’s no desktop version, how do we install the Veras plugin for Revit? Is there a separate link to install that plugin?

This is very confusing. Because the “installation” video provided by Evole Lab shows Veras being “installed” and the Revit plugin being subsequently available after that “installation”.

Hope I’m making sense.

Please help.

Hi @ansonmstuart ,

There is no “standalone” desktop version in the sense that any version of Veras that gets installed to your machine will be dependent on another design application, e.g. Revit, Rhino, etc. When Veras gets installed using the msi, each version of Veras we support is being installed as a plug-in/add-on. Essentially, the Veras files get copied into the add-ons folder of the respective application.

When using our .msi installer for Windows, it’s just one single installer that will install every version of Veras we support–as long as you have that supported application installed. Hope this makes sense.

Please let me know if there is still any confusion on the matter, or you’re having trouble accessing installed Veras software.

Thanks Greg.

I don’t see it in my programs or apps. I did a search in my task bar and the set up file comes up, but the file location is my downloads folder. I open the file, do the installation, repair etc. It finishes. But the program is still not in my programs or apps. And when I open Revit I don’t see the Veras plugin in the tools bar, like in the Evolve Lab video.

I use Revit 2022. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

OK, there are a few things we can check and go over to make sure things installed properly:

First, it’s been noted that if Revit is open while installing/reinstalling/uninstalling, sometimes the process isn’t successfully completed, so make sure Revit 2022 is closed when you do this.

Next, if the installation was successful, the next time you open Revit 2022, you’ll be prompted with a message asking if you’d like to load the Veras addin. Make sure to elect to.

You can check if the installer process is successful by going to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2022 There, you should see a folder named EvolveLAB.Veras The ProgramData folder is a hidden folder, so make sure that in your File Explorer window, you “show hidden files”. This can be done in File Explorer by going to View->Show->Hidden items

Lastly, Veras tool button may be located under the “EvolveLAB” tab in the ribbon, e.g. Architecture, Structure, Steel, Precast… EvolveLAB…

Let me know what you find!
