The 3DWarehouse has a model of the Stahl home, built in Los Angeles in 1959. Also known as Case Study House #22, it was designed by minimalist architect Pierre Koenig.
Perched dramatically in the Hollywood Hills, the Stahl House features floor-to-ceiling glass walls that offer breathtaking panoramic views of Los Angeles. The home’s open-plan design, steel-frame construction, and seamless integration with its surroundings make it a landmark of modernist residential architecture. The Stahl home has become a cultural icon, immortalized in countless photographs, films, and advertisements. Julius Shulman’s legendary black-and-white photograph of two women sitting inside, with the sparkling city lights sprawling below, cemented its status as a symbol of 20th-century modernism.
For rendering the 3D model the render prompt was set to ‘night, dramatic uplighting, dramatic shadows, dramatic reflections’. I find that putting ‘dramatic’ in front of lighting, shadows, and reflections makes quite a difference - creating very dramatic lighting. And its much the same for daytime rendering. If you put in the prompt ‘dramatic daylight, dramatic shadows, dramatic reflections’ the results are equally stunning.
