Hi, I’m new here. Still learning the ins and outs of Veras. I’m having issues of losing image quality. After a few initials prompts things seem great. Then when I need to fine tune things each proceeding render loses quality. Once I get the main image I like I’ve been using that image as the Source. I’m then able to make tweaks to the image. However after 3 or 4 renders I notice the image has lost all it’s quality. What am I doing wrong? Is there a solution?
Hi, welcome to Veras! You’re not doing anything wrong. Each time a render goes back in as the source, the AI redraws the whole image, and a bit of fine detail is lost each pass. After 3–4 rounds, that will compound. A few ways to avoid it:
Edit only the area you want to change. Use the selection/mask tools (Modify/Replace, or inpainting) instead of re-rendering the whole image. Areas outside the selection keep their original pixels.
Go back to the original view for bigger changes. Re-render from your Revit view with the updated prompt rather than from the last render. Keep your favorite render as a style reference instead of the Source.
Use a higher output resolution (2K or above) when your engine offers it, and match it to your source image.
Upscale once at the end to restore sharpness on your final image. (Unfortunately there have been some mixed reviews with the upscaler recently. We’ll be upgraded it soon!)
If you can tell us which render engine and resolution you’re using, we can give more specific settings.
So I thought I was doing many of the things you suggested.
Maybe I’m just getting things out of order or selecting the wrong options. I’ve used the selection tool quite a few times. But, again after the 3rd or 4th time the quality fails. When I’m using that selection tool, should I then have that image as the source? Should I have anything set as the reference image?
Just to clarify the workflow. I put in my initial prompt. It creates a few options. I pick one I like and start to modify that one. Do I take that initial image and make it my source or no? I guess I’m still trying to learn and understand when I should change the source. Also when if ever should I ever use a new rendered image as a reference image? It seems like that’s when I have the most issues.
I’ve tried the upscale. It’s horrible..haha. It’s basically just smoothing everything and it loses all depth and texture.
