SketchUp Veras Plugin Not Showing Up - Workaround

What is the issue?

Currently, a few versions of Veras do not show up in SketchUp after being installed.

This is currently known to affect the following Veras versions 1.8.0.1 though 1.8.1.1

Why is this happened?

After looking into this, we’ve discovered the source of the issue.

We recently made an update to the SketchUp installation process, which allows for silent mass-deploys of the Veras .msi file to each user’s local user path directory. SketchUp has their own system for signing SketchUp Plugins, and this installer update has caused a conflict with the SketchUp signing process.

Please note that even though the SketchUp Plugin is not signed, the EvolveLAB Veras .msi file as a whole is signed. If you installed Veras using our official installer then all the Veras platforms, including SketchUp, should still be secure and tamper-free.

When will this be resolved?

We are working on resolving this right now, and will post here and in the Veras Release forum as soon as we have fixed the issue.

How can I use veras SketchUp in the mean time?

Here are a few workarounds you can use if you need to access Sketchup Veras in the interim:

  1. Install Veras from SketchUp Extension Warehouse.
While this is a slightly older version (v1.7.1.0 as of writing), it is signed and should install the SketchUp Veras extension only without error.

  1. Change the SketchUp plugin settings, assuming your machine(s)/user(s) have permission to do so, to either the ‘Approve Unidentified Extensions’ or ‘Unrestricted’ option, then enable the Veras plugin.

  1. Or, outside of SketchUp, you can still access Veras on the Web version, or any other supported platform (Revit, Rhino, Forma, etc…)

Thanks everyone for your patience well we work to resolves this issue!
