Hi everyone, I’m asking for help because I can’t find a guide—here, on the Chaos website, or even via ChatGPT—on how to use the 3D features (and I’m actually creating a video course for an Italian distributor…).
I mainly use the web version:
In the “Image” section, I upload an .obj file exported from SketchUp.
I get an error (“Loading materials completed with errors”).
The model appears, but I can’t navigate around it.
So, I switch to the “Model” section.
There are 2D (why here too?), 3D, and split tabs again, but there are no buttons on the right to do anything… What is the “Model” section for? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but I haven’t found any information about it online. Thanks.
Or rather, I’ve read many of your posts about the new features, but I’m really missing the basics. The new stuff is fine, but I don’t understand where to start…
Please reply, as I need to move forward with the video course being sold to Italian users
tnks a lot!
P.S. Even in V-Ray for SketchUp, I don’t understand how to use the Model section.
@marcokiare - the workflow is specific and the UI is not as helpful as the image tab.
For asset gen, here are the steps:
need to have a 3d model loaded by opening Veras inside SketchUp (obj upload becomes a dead end at the moment)
use the 3d model source to make an AI rendering (this is important)
then go to the model tab and select the rendering generated using the 3d model
then you can follow through the main button at the bottom left to get an asset placed. It will:
segment the image
select detected objects in the image that do not exist in the model (only exists in the ai render)
the selected objects are matched with an Cosmos asset (or generated from scratch)
the object is placed in your scene
you can then bake the asset to your parent app: Revit, Rhino, SketchUp supported
However, this is now fully automated with the Agent mode released yesterday, where the agent will try to map any view to any model (or generate the model). This is more dynamic and more capable, but costs more credits. Release post: Veras 5.2 - Agentic Modeling with Astra & Opus
